First "Live & Local" at Murphy's a HUGE success!

Just a very quick note from me (while I eat my breaky) to let everyone know that last nights first Live & Local event at Irish Murphy's was a smash hit with punters and performers alike!

Thanks to all who helped out, Committee members, performers, members, etc...you know who you are!

The 4th Guildford Banjo Jamboree

The 14th, 15th & 16th September 2007 will again see the tiny central Victorian town of Guildford engulfed with lovers of that old-timey string band sound. The 4th Guildford Banjo Jamboree is only a few weeks away now and banjo pickers, strummers and pluckers from accross Victoria and beyond will be diggin' out the fingerpicks, wondering where their campin' gear is and generally getting ready for the weekend that stops central Victoria!

From the very first performance, the first GFMC Open-Mic at Irish Murphy's felt like a winner!

The night began with punters making their way in twos and threes into Murphy's, out of the cold winter night, and as they slowly came...they stayed. With lots of regular faces, as well as some new ones, the night kicked off a little after 8pm with Geoff & Beryl doing a few tunes to get the night going, and from then on the board was full all night. Regular Open-Mic Events at Irish Murphys Geelong


The Geelong Folk Music Club has organised a new series of regular, and now “smoke-free”, Open Mic events and ‘Live & Local’ performances to be held at Irish Murphy's Geelong.

The Open Mic sessions, or ‘blackboard concerts’, are scheduled for the second Tuesday of the month and will be held in on restaurant stage at Irish Murphy’s. Read more »»

"Live & Local" to feature local musicians!

The fourth Wednesday of each month has been organised as a regular 'feature concert' on the Bar Stage at Irish Murphys.

These new ‘Live & Local’ concerts seek to give performance opportunities for local Folk Music acts and will run from 8:00 pm to 10:30 pm. The first of these will be held on Wednesday 29th August and features local acts ‘Jamie McKinnon and Friends, ‘Sway’ and local band ‘Grand Melee’. Read more »»
