Pioneer Festival - Deans Marsh
This Sunday - Apr 20 - all day
Sunday in Deans Marsh at the recreation oval will be a great day out for the family. Sunny weather, sheepdog hurdle jumping, sheep shearing, wood-fired pizza, local produce, a story-telling tent (with Dave Steel), gumboot tossing, vintage tractors, llamas and all sort of pioneery stuff. A pretty cool celebration of the community of Deans Marsh and its Mayor, Mark Fagan.
With live music from Dave Steel, High & Lonesome and other local performers.
April Open-Mic Overflowing!
Great to see the front bar at Murphy's full to overflowing last night at the April Open-Mic. Check out the photos here! There was barely room to get in with a guitar case there for a while! Support for all the performers was top-notch. Thanks to all that attended. Read more »»

High & Lonesome - Irish Murphys
Irish Murphys - Thurs Apr 2 - 7.30 pm
The High & Lonesome Sextet is back at Irish Murphys for another night of One Mic No Sh*t old school live, singing-into-a-can folk music. The last Irish Murphys Show was fantastic - no-one does live music this way in Geelong, except High & Lonesome.
The boys will be hot to trot out the usual gladbag of hillbilly mayhem of folk, country, blues, bluegrass and classic rock as only they can.
As one respectable punter said at the recent High & Husky gig at Irish Murphys: "Good to hear some decent music here for a change." Read more »»

Re-STRINGING the MOUNTAIN
Sourcing good playable instruments for those who have lost them in the fires.
Many of us have instruments in the house that we don’t use, maybe we have upgraded or found other interests or for whatever reason they are gathering dust. Put them to good use today!
Many people who have lost their homes in the recent Victorian bushfires have also lost cherished musical instruments. Whether they were the kids’ favourite ukulele or an inherited Fender Stratocaster, they will for the most part be irreplaceable, and missed sorely. You can offer some consolation by contributing an instrument that you might have lying around the house. Read more »»
